  What Patient Care Technician do?
The Patient Care Technician prepares you to work in a hospital environment under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Students are trained to perform clinical skills such as blood collection, EKGs, catheterization, recording vital signs and patient treatments, and other tasks related to patient care.
  What are your admissions Requirements?
  All applicants who wish to enter this program must have a high school diploma or an equivalent (GED) or.
Be Foreign medical Doctor or
A Foreign educated nurse with at least one year of experience
Or a Phlebotomy Technician
 
 How long will it take me to complete this training?
  This program can be completed in seven months and consist of eighteen 6 months of theory and lab and one month of Clinical Externship. Classes meet Monday-Friday 9 AM – 1 PM or 6 PM -10 PM.
 
 Will I receive hands-on, real world job experience?
  In addition to the realistic laboratory environment FEI provides, we also offer a hands-on working experience called an externship. Our Patient Care Technician externship is one month long for both our day and evening programs

  What skills will I learn?
  Upon completion of this program, student will be able to:
Demonstrate accepted professional, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to perform phlebotomy & EKG
Identify standards of the Health insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Demonstrate personal safety procedures based on Occupations Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regulations (including standard precautions.
Lift, hold, and transfer patients including the use of the mechanical lift utilizing good body mechanics
Demonstrate ability to accurately measure and record vital signs.
Assist With Restorative (Rehabilitative) Activities
Perform Supervised Organizational Functions, Following The Patient Plan Of Care
Provide Biological, Psychological, And Social Support
Apply The Principles Of Infection Control Specific To Nursing Assistant

Patient Care Technician Diploma and Expanded Functions Certificate
Upon completing the program, you are able to apply for certification as:
Certified Patient Care Technician, (CPCT/CPCA/CNT) from NHA, or NCPCT from NCCT
